What to bring?

On you first visit to Spine Service, a detailed assessment will be made to evaluate your problem and determine the best course of treatment. This process is exhaustive and includes filling out of questionnaires regarding your problem, followed by a physical examination by the doctor. You will need to change into a gown provided by the service to permit a detailed examination of your spine.

Following the examination, your scans and x-ray films and reports will be studied and more may be ordered. If more scans and xrays are advised, you will be directed to the appropriate diagnostic centre and a review appointment will be made for you to see the doctor when your scans/x-rays are ready.

You should set aside 2 hours from arrival to departure for the first examination. Parking facilities are available in the vicinity (see location map).

Do I need a referral from a general practitioner?

A referral from a general practitioner (GP) enables you to claim a portion of the Spine Service fee from Medicare. This referral is valid for 12 months. A referral from another specialist is accepted and this is valid for only 3 months.

What do I need to bring to the appointment?

  • Please bring all your x-rays and scans with you to every appointment and remember to ask for all your x-rays/scans when you leave. We only keep your x-rays/scans before your surgery or for a meeting.
  • Please bring all you previous medical records and reports even if they do not pertain to the spine.

What are the services offered to workers compensation and third-party claim patients?

Spine Service is happy to assist all Workers Compensation and Third Party claim patients. If you wish your insurer to be billed directly, you must provide a letter of approval from your insurer at your first appointment. In the absence of a letter of approval from the insurance company, workers compensation and third-party fees are to be paid on the day by the patient.

How can I make a follow-up appointment?

Prior to leaving the office, collect your investigations and book in advance for your follow-up visit. Please remember to bring your x-rays/scans at your follow-up visit. Alternatively, you can call Spine Service (Phone 02-9588 9622) to book an appointment.

In addition to cash payments, we accept VISA and Mastercard. EFTPOS is also available on site.
